Travels with my baby charts the days and sleepless nights of a Mancunian baby, Milo. It started off as a way of me retaining my sanity when Milo was teeny tiny (no use pretending I’m a Stepford Wife when I’m not; I’d far rather be out doing stuff than cleaning the oven). Since then, however, Milo has developed some admirable qualities: he loves public transport, enjoys making friends with strangers, and has a killer smile that disarms even the grumpiest commuter.
Our days out together mean a great deal to me, especially since many people (myself included in my pre-Milo days) seem to think that having a baby means the end of Life As We Know It. It doesn’t: life with a baby rocks. It’s bloody marvellous, hilarious and a whole lot more fun than the ‘oooh, it’s all nappies and sleepless nights’ brigade would have you believe. Ahem. (Susie steps off her soap box.)
As for me, well, I’m a writer (though my first bloody novel may well be the death of me), a journalist and marketing consultant. I currently work on Creative Tourist, which in part reflects my passion for the arts, and in part my deep and abiding love of Manchester. I try not to write about my current clients on this blog (mainly art galleries), though sometimes there is a crossover. That said, if I review a place I do it honestly and I don’t get any kick-backs, payment or cakes in return (and nor would I accept any. Well, maybe the odd cake now and again). I have been asked to do product reviews and, to be honest, I did it once, slated the product (it was rubbish) and was never asked again, so when British Mummy Bloggers released their guidelines for blogging with integrity, I was happy to sign up.
This blog won Blog of the Year and Best Personal Blog at the Manchester Blog Awards 2008 - a very great honour given the fabulous blogging community that exists in Manchester and of which I am proud to be a part (seriously – Manchester blogging must be the best in the country). Here is me looking excruciatingly embarrassed as I was given my award. And apparently people other than my Mum read this blog: Enjoy the Ride and Parentdish like it at any rate, it was recently selected as part of the Best of British Mummy Bloggers Carnival and I’m also a member of Top Travel Content Europe and British Mummy Bloggers. One of my posts was also selected to be part of the fabulously-named Car Sick Carnival - possibly the funniest round-up of parenting posts I’ve ever read.

And many congrats for winning both the Personal Blog and the Manchester Blog of the Year awards!!!
Brilliant work. Well done!!
